Behavior Severity Level
Severity: Moderate
What you may be seeing
- Hiding behind the owner, freezing, or flattening to the ground when another dog is near
- Trembling, tucked tail, ears pinned back, or whale eye when another dog approaches
- Attempting to flee — backing up, pulling hard away from other dogs on leash
- Panting, drooling, or yawning (stress signals) in environments where other dogs are present
- Cowering during on-leash greetings even with friendly, neutral dogs
- Fear that flips to snapping or growling when the dog feels cornered and can't escape
- A dog who was fine with familiar dogs at home but panics around strangers
- Refusal to enter spaces where other dogs have been (a park entrance, a training facility)
- Shutting down completely — unable to take treats, respond to cues, or engage with the owner in the presence of other dogs
- Fear that has worsened over time with repeated exposure rather than improving

What Our Clients Say
“We adopted Maya from a rescue and she was terrified of every dog she met. I felt so guilty taking her anywhere. After Behavior Camp, she isn't a social butterfly — and that's okay — but she can walk past other dogs without shutting down. She made two dog friends at DaySchool.”
“Our trainer warned us that pushing a fearful dog too fast makes things worse, and that had been exactly our mistake. The Partners team was so patient and methodical. They worked at Ranger's pace, not ours. Watching him go from hiding behind my legs to playing in a DaySchool yard — that was something I genuinely didn't think was possible.”
