Emma Vincent
Senior Instructor at Partners Dog Training who builds calm, confident dogs through patience and consistency
About Emma
Hi, I'm Emma, a Senior Instructor at Partners Dog Training. I have been working with dogs for six years, four of them here at Partners, where I started as a kennel tech and daycare attendant before moving into training. Caring for dogs is more than a career for me. It is genuinely my passion, and you will find me spending time with dogs even when I am off the clock.
Away from work I have a German Shepherd named Zahra who keeps me busy with Disc Dog and Dock Diving, along with hiking, camping, and traveling to new places. Working my own dog through those activities is a daily reminder of what a solid foundation and clear communication can do, and that is exactly what I want to build for the families I train.
What Emma loves
Favorite programsCommitted to making dogs and owners live happier, balanced lives
Training Philosophy
I train the balanced way we use across Partners, personalizing each session to your dog and to the stage we are working through: Teaching a new skill, Reinforcing it until it is consistent, Proofing it against real-world distractions, and Maintenance so it holds for life. I lean on whatever tools and techniques fit your dog and your goals, and I make sure you understand the why behind each step so the training does not stop when you leave the field. My aim is a dog who listens because the two of you finally speak the same language.
Ideal Client & Goals
My ideal clients are dog owners who are committed to helping their dogs succeed through patience, consistency, and clear communication, even at home. Whether you are raising a new puppy, working through behavioral challenges, or simply looking to strengthen your bond, I love working with people who are open to learning alongside their dog. My goal is to create a training experience that is balanced, fair, and enjoyable for both you and your dog.
Experience
I have been working with dogs for six years, four of them here at Partners Dog Training. I started as a kennel tech and daycare attendant before moving into training, where I focus on reactivity, advanced obedience, and foundational obedience, helping families build real communication with their dogs.
Favorite moment: My favorite moment is when you can actually see everything click for a dog. Watching them understand what is being asked and gain confidence as they learn is incredibly rewarding. But even more than that, my favorite part is the bond that builds between the dog and their handler. Seeing that trust, communication, and teamwork grow is what makes training so special.

Not at all. Training can begin the day you bring your puppy home. While young puppies are not ready for advanced obedience, they are constantly learning from every experience, and socializing, building confidence, and exposing your puppy to the world are big first steps.
Leash reactivity does not happen overnight, and it will not disappear overnight either, but with consistency it can absolutely improve. The first step is figuring out why your dog is reacting, whether it is fear, frustration, excitement, or uncertainty. From there, training focuses on teaching your dog to stay engaged with you, rewarding calm behavior, and gradually building positive experiences around their triggers while keeping them at a manageable distance. Every dog is different, so the plan has to be tailored to your dog's needs and paced to what they can handle. With patience and consistency, walks can become calmer and more enjoyable for both of you.
Jumping is a normal behavior for dogs. It is often their way of saying hello or seeking attention. The key is teaching them that keeping all four paws on the ground is what earns attention instead. We use the command "off" to reinforce this. Stay consistent by rewarding calm greetings, asking friends and family to ignore jumping, and only giving attention once your dog is sitting or standing calmly. With clear expectations and regular practice, your dog will learn that polite greetings are much more rewarding than jumping.
