About Sierra

Hi, I'm Sierra, a Senior Instructor at our Cave Creek location. I have been with Partners Dog Training since the beginning of 2020, starting as an Animal Care Technician and DaySchool Attendant and working my way up to trainer, then Senior staff. I work with dogs of every breed, though working breeds like German Shepherds and Rottweilers are my personal favorite, and finding out what drives each individual dog is always a highlight of the training process for me.

Outside of work I compete in rally and agility with my own dogs, so structure and drive are part of my life too, not just the training floor. You will usually find me assisting or leading our Pet Parent Classes, where watching how each handler works with their own dog tells me a lot about their unique dynamic, a part of the job I really value.

Training Philosophy

I train the balanced way we teach at Partners, meeting every dog where it is and moving through four stages: Teaching a new behavior, Reinforcing it until it is consistent, Proofing it against real distractions, and Maintenance so it holds for the long run. I love working with dogs that need structure to manage reactivity, and I bring the same eye for precision to rally and agility that I use with my own dogs at home. My goal is to leave you with the understanding and tools to keep that progress going long after our work together.

Ideal Client & Goals

My ideal client is someone who knows exactly what they want to achieve with their dog and is ready to put in the work to get there. Training is not an overnight fix, and I look for families who understand that real, lasting change takes time and dedication. When a handler commits to the process, that is when we see the biggest breakthroughs.

Experience

I have been with Partners Dog Training since early 2020, moving from Animal Care Technician and DaySchool Attendant up to trainer and then Senior staff at our Cave Creek location. Along the way I have worked with dogs of every breed, with a particular focus on reactivity, and I compete in rally and agility with my own dogs outside of work. I also assist and lead our Pet Parent Classes.

Favorite moment: I do not have just one favorite moment, but I truly love the breakthrough instant when a dog suddenly seems to understand what I am asking of them. That spark of comprehension and connection is incredibly rewarding.
