About Kelsey

I grew up in Northern California, and working with dogs has been the thing I care about most for as long as I can remember. I started in the dog world as a bather for a groomer in Cave Creek, then moved into daycare and boarding, before finding my way to Partners Dog Training just over three years ago.

I love being able to better a dog not just inside a DaySchool or Boarding environment, but at home for their family too. Watching a dog settle into good manners and a household find its rhythm is the part I never get tired of.

Training Philosophy

I train the balanced way we use across Partners, which means I match each session to where a dog is with a given behavior. We move through four stages: Teaching a new skill, Reinforcing it until it holds, Proofing it against real-world distractions, and then Maintenance so it lasts. I use the tools and methods that fit the individual dog in front of me, because no two dogs learn the same way. The goal is always the same, a dog that listens because it understands, and a family that feels in control at home and out in the world.

Ideal Client & Goals

My ideal client understands that training does not end the moment their pup goes home. It is a continuous journey for the rest of that dog's life, and I love partnering with families who stay engaged for the long run. I welcome all dogs, whatever their breed or background, and I am especially drawn to the ones with complicated histories.

Experience

I started in the dog world as a bather for a groomer in Cave Creek, then moved into daycare and boarding work, which taught me how dogs behave in groups and under stress. I joined Partners Dog Training just over three years ago to keep growing as a trainer, and I have gone on to teach 4,357 dogs and log more than 28,000 taught behaviors across Group Classes, DaySchool, DayCamp, Boarding, Private Lessons, and Treadmill. I work out of our Cave Creek location, where behavior modification, confidence building, and foundation training are my focus.

Favorite moment: My favorite training moment is watching things click for the pup I'm working with, when everything starts to make sense and flow together.
