Monica Jensen
Cave Creek DaySchool and Boarding Manager focused on socialization and confidence for growing puppies
About Monica
My name is Monica and I manage DaySchool and Boarding at our Cave Creek location. I have been with Partners for five years now, and I genuinely love this work. Every day I get to help dogs feel safe, settled, and confident while they are in our care, so families can leave them with us and know they are in good hands.
I teach our Pre-School Puppy and Zoomer's Agility classes, and socialization, manners, and confidence building are the parts of the job I care about most. Watching a nervous puppy learn to move through the world with a little more courage never gets old.
What Monica loves
Favorite programsDon't be a drag, just be a queen.
Training Philosophy
I follow the Partners balanced approach, personalized to each dog through our four stages of Teaching, Reinforcing, Proofing, and Maintenance. With puppies especially, that means meeting them where they are and building real confidence one small win at a time. I want every dog in my care to leave calmer and more sure of themselves, and I want their families to see a puppy who fits into normal life at home.
Ideal Client & Goals
I love working with puppies. Watching them grow physically and mentally, and figuring out how to help each one problem-solve, is my favorite part of the day. If you have a young dog and you want them to grow up social, steady, and comfortable in new situations, we are going to get along well.
Experience
I got into the dog world by partnering with a rescue alongside my mom and sister when we lived in California, where we fostered all kinds of mixed and purebred dogs. Seeing dogs returned to the rescue over things like barking or nervousness, when I knew they were capable of so much more, is what drew me to training. With eight years in the dog industry and five of them here at Partners, that experience shapes how I run DaySchool and Boarding at Cave Creek today, with an eye on each dog's comfort, safety, and steady growth.
Favorite moment: I worked with a yellow Lab puppy named Pretzel whose mom has MS and was about to start using an electric wheelchair. I used anything with wheels I could find to practice heel with Pretzel ahead of time. On the day of her transitional lesson, Pretzel showed no fear of that wheelchair and heeled alongside her mom for the first time. Watching how excited her mom was to finally be able to take Pretzel on walks is a moment I still think about.
