Margaret Monteith
Margaret Monteith, Animal Care Technician / DaySchool at Partners Dog Training in Scottsdale, building confidence and manners into every day
About Margaret
Hi, I'm Margaret, though everyone here calls me Meg. I've had pets my whole life, from rabbits and chickens to snakes and horses, so animals have always been part of how I see the world. Before Partners I spent years in performing arts as a classically trained, Broadway-trained vocalist, and years more playing and coaching volleyball, both of which taught me how to communicate clearly and stay steady when things get chaotic. I bring that same coaching mindset to the animal care team at our Scottsdale campus, where I've supported 2,117 dogs through DaySchool and DayCamp and logged 9,567 behaviors into the PD360 system.
I focus on Manners, Foundational Obedience, and Confidence, and I especially love working with the stubborn, southpaw dogs who need a patient coach as much as a handler. My goal is to keep each dog's day structured and enriching, not just supervised, so time with me reinforces what happens in the training room.

Training Philosophy
A well spent day of enrichment does as much for a dog as a good training session.Ideal Client & Goals
My ideal client is someone who is okay with not getting it right on the first try. I want every pet parent to know they aren't alone, and that they have the support to get back up and keep going. Once we find our rhythm together, I love helping families keep building on that education, whether that continues with me or on their own.
Experience
I have five years of experience working with dogs, plus a lifetime of caring for nearly every kind of animal there is. Before Partners I built a background in performing arts, classically and Broadway trained vocally, and competitive volleyball, over twelve years as a player, six as team captain, and now as a coach. That mix of performance discipline and team coaching shapes how I work with dogs and their people today, especially the stubborn, strong-willed ones who need patience and structure.
Favorite moment: My favorite moment is helping a first-time owner get excited to show me the new trick they taught their pup, using the fundamentals I gave them.

Not professionally, yet, but Margaret has always been pretty decent with dogs and brings that instinct to the animal care team at Partners.
Use high value rewards and redirect your dog's attention until they are giving you focus again.
Start by keeping your dog on leash and sitting. Walk toward the open door, and if they move, correct them and reset until they hold the sit.
